What a summer!

WOW! How is it that we are already into August?! This summer is flying by. With so much happening at the Gothenburg Pony Express Station, I felt that it would be great to start a blog to keep our visitors and community updated on all the happenings.

I want to start sharing some stories of the Pony Express, stories of our visitors and give helpful visitor information. As the blog progresses, I hope that you find it a fun and informative addition to our website!

For our first ever post **release confetti** I want to give everyone a heads up on a NEW and exciting event that we are working on with the Gothenburg Historical Museum.

The Trails West Fest is a fun idea that we had to bring history to life. We have several hard-working volunteers that are trying to put together as many fun events as we can possibly do in the 4.5 hours that we are hosting this!

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a cowboy church sermon (including music). Any history buff knows how important faith was to the founders of the Pony Express and to most of the travelers that were making their way west across our state.

After the sermon is done, we will have lots of old-time games, historical demonstrations and reenactments, pony rides (with a chance to become an honorary pony express rider), stick horse relay competition, lunch and SO MUCH MORE!

The event will take place in Ehmen Park (where the station is located). We have also been granted permission from the city to close 15th street so that we can walk freely between both museums without worrying about traffic. Festivities will wrap up around 4 p.m.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
